My grand mother recently passed away and while we were cleaning her home we found a key from a safe at the bank. When we opened it we found a huge collection of jewels we never knew she had and the most impressive one by far, is a diamond ring enclosed in a van Cleef & Arpels box. this was accompanied by a Van Cleef & Arpels & De Beers certificate that says the ring was purchased in 1958, and then it has lots of info we do not understand, such as :
color. F
Clarity VVS1
Cut : emerald
now the carats part was ripped but it mesures 1.2 inches wide per 1.8 inches long aprox.
we really dont have the slightest idea how much a diamond ring like this one would cost, a jeweler has offered us $25,000 us dllls, wich we found a great offer (it will take us out of debt completly) but we want to make sure that this is the right price for it. …oh and by the way, according to the descripition I gave, how much carats does the diamond weights aprox? and of course how much will it cost?

woah! most average are like8,000 but 25 is ALOT! but u should still double check with an expert. you should go to like 4 different jewlerys(brand name like tiffanys i suggest) and ask how much it is worth or something and compare the prices.

The diamond is 1.2 inches wide by 1.8 inches long?!? First I would have it tested to make sure it’s real – that’s HUGE for a diamond, and if it’s real it’s worth a helluva lot more than 25K. Spend the money to have it appraised – whether or not you decide to sell, you should know what you’ve got. If you decide not to sell, get it insured.

are you sure that its 1.2 INCHES by 1.8 INCHES?? Thats HUGE!!! If it is that large then you can get WAY more than $25,000 if you really do want to sell it. Color F means that it is colorless, and VVS1 means it is “very very slightly included” meaning it has little inclusions or flaws. Colorless diamonds, and VVS diamonds are more valuable. I just found an inches to millimeter conversion (since thats what diamonds are measured in) and if you are correct about the inches, then its 30mm x 45mm. A 14mm X 10mm emerald diamond is almost 9 carats, so yours would be over 18 carats. I dont want to give you an amount that I think you can get for it b/c I am not qualified to do that…but if you are right about the inches then you can get WAY WAY WAY more than $25,000. Do some research before you sell it. Plus, if you aren’t in financial difficulties, you might want to consider hanging on to it.

are you sure measurementis in inches and not in MM??? what is the depth of the diamond?? IS it just a single stoone or a cluste ???fancy cut of that colour and clarity 5 carats is approx USD40000 PER CARAT depending how well is the stone cut, anything bigger than 5 carat is sky high price. That piece belongs in auction house
