When you shop for diamonds you look for authenticity, shape color, and price and durability

The 3 C’s…color, cut, clarity. The color is very important, you can have a big diamond that is gray or has obvious flaws…it looks terrible. I would rather have a smaller diamond with good color and less flaws. I wouldn’t get a large diamond less than SI2 clarity, or less than H or I color. The jewelry store will have a chart that shows you these things. Another tip, I find better quality and deals with family owned stores than the mall stores. But shop around.

I would normally go for a D to H nothing below that cos that would show a slight yellowish tinge For clarity I would go for VVS1 or VVS2 or VS1 or VS2 but nothing below that or the inclusion could be seen with a naked eye. And as for shape, it depends on what you like but if this is your first piece of diamond ring, go for a round cos round has more shine and round is always more expensive than other shapes. As for size it depends. If you are thinking of gettng a 1carat, you cld share a lot by getting a 0.97 or .99 cos it haven’t reached the 1 carat catagory which cld save you quite a lot. But if you intend to get 1 carat always try to make it slightly above 1 carat say 1.03 etc reason being if you set it in a ring and later decide to reset sometimes a little bit of the diamond might get a very slight lost in weight during resetting. If you cld afford it go for something close to 2 carat ie 1.8carat. As for me, I always collect between 3 to 5 carats. Hope this helps and good luck.
